Anupam Roy, the phenomenal singer, poet, composer was signed up by Saregama for four Music Videos. He was convinced that there wasn’t anyone around who could direct a proper music video. After a prolonged search one of the TVCs we had produced for PC Chandra Jewellers caught his attention. He wanted Rohan to direct all his Music Videos. It started with Darun, which was a resounding success. And the second one was up before we knew it. Ga Chhnuye Bolchhi was about a Durga Pujo love story set in North Calcutta. The script was written, the actors were briefed and we were almost about to get into production when a sponsor came in. MI wanted the phone to feature, several times, along with a smart watch. Overnight Rohan tweaked the story to seamlessly blend in the sponsor’s product. The starting sequence was a winner for all. The beautiful intro music which reveals the leading guy, about to kiss the girl of his dreams, is woken up by the MI ringtone as his friends call up to fix the pujo programme. Rohan and Sudarshana had pulled off another thriller. A whole music video shot within 14 hours of permissible industry shooting schedule. Including Anupam Roy’s performance with his band of equally famous musicians. It remains one of Rohan’s favourite music videos that he directed, closely followed by Darun. Streetlight successfully established itself as the top of the line music video producer in town. Love for the ‘sound of music’ made even the most gruelling production seem like a ‘walk in the clouds’.
